With all these nice new Freeview HD boxes,TVs with it built in, shops all full of them, it must be nice to be able to see what all the fuss is about. So I'm sure there are many people who will have to wait until 2012 before they can fully use their siny new purchase, if like me they were daft enough to buy one now. Still, I'm sure the retailers care, as long as they make that sale. I wonder if they tell customers they can't use it yet when they are selling them.

I bought my Tesco STBDIS2010 box for £60 with a discount voucher, but what a waste of money. I put up with this box for two weeks before getting my money back. This box is extremely unstable, continuously loosing channels, especially HD ones, requiring retuning or factory re-sets, only for the same thing to happen again. Judging by comments on other forums these problems are not isolated. Tesco could not tell me whether any software upgrades were possible or planned. The Tesco technical help line even suggested spending more money on a better branded product! Are Tesco just trying to get rid of stock at any price??

Has anyone ACTUALLY received the cash promised by Currys. I bought 2 TV's, did the registration thingy, sent it off with the correct paperwork, and after 12th July, but NO CASH on either mine or my mum's forms.

Can you complain, doubt it, no responsibility for loss of forms, etc. Well that means that they can disregard about 40% of the applications dont u think !

Hi

I purchased one of these last week and I must say that I am very disappointed with the HD quality of pictures. I have a resonably new Series 5 Samsung TV which is '1080 Full HD, but the pictures are less clear using this box than the normal digital reception. I have double checked all the connections...I was expecting a very clear and crisp HD picture, but sadly it is less clear! Any help or advice would be apreciated. All other features seem to work fine.

Thanks

Good news - Sagemcom are distributing their new software version (2.2.0) on their homepage (www.sagemcomdigital.co.uk) and it has cured the bugs! The EPG is much faster now, the sound drop-out has completlely disappeared and the difference between SD and HD channels has been significantly improved. Im glad that I had not returned my box, it is great now!!!

I got one of these boxes yesterday at Tesco's. Seemed to work OK out of the box, but.... It is quite poorly made.

Although it says it is connected to the wireless network (comes up with our network in all the right places) it won't when you want to connect to Fetch. I've seen a few posts and reports of this. It is miles away from the wireless router so I'll have to sort it out to get an update etc.

HD reception is ifee, although I live in central London and the signal is supposed to be excellent. we have a new aerial as well. when it works properly it is awesome.

Has auto reboot issues - seems todo this for no good reason every so often in various situations, no pattern.

I was waiting for the 3View box which has the best reviews but is obviously £100 extra. Check out AVforums for the sad news about this product.

I'll give it two weeks after updating.

I have a samsung hd ready tv, bought c.a year ago.in the manual, it doesnt mention 'upscaling to 1080i'.It just states 'improving' the reception. I already have an 'incompatibility'problem.I recently purchased a samsung blue ray player, which plays in 'full hd', or 1080i. a friend tells me that I'll never get 'full hd'on blue ray dvds as the tv is only 'hd ready'(720p). Is this true? Could you respond to my email address? Thanks.Personally, I think this 'HD' affair is only designed to make users spend more money.Iver Mackay.
