It says I've been able to receive HD for over a year ... Not true, still no HD here via Freeview, in fact reception has got worse since the digital switch-over a few days ago.

Hello Michael,

I have updated the link on this page to a dedicated Freeview HD checker, rather than the Freeview checker (which did have Freeview HD as well, although it was a little confusing).

The Freeview HD Checker here <a href="http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability/main/indexhd/" rel="nofollow">http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability/main/indexhd/</a> should tell you to he nearest month when your region will be enabled.

I am not sure how accurate it is, as if I put my home post code in, followed by my work post code, it gives me 2 different dates, despite them being only a few hundred yards apart.

Let me know if you still have problems.

Hopeless site this links to.

After several errors on the page, it then tells me that I MIGHT be able to get normal Freeview soon, when I've had it for a few years.

Not impressed at all, and of course no mention of HD.

Ganz, you most likely will do. Some very recent hd TVs have built in freeview hd tuners, but unless yours does, you'll need one of those on this site.

Graeme - as far as I am aware, the only box to do this so far is the Icecrypt T2200 - it has two CI slots for your ESPN cam - read the review here.. http://www.freeviewhdbox.co.uk/icecrypt-t2200-freeview-hd-receiver-media-player/

Hope this helps,

Hmmm...

Having been on Freeview for many years, I decided to see if Freeview HD was available in my area. I went to the Freeview site, entered my postcode and..... not only does it claim that HD will not be available until 2012 but also that Freeview is not available in my area either. I then tried my father's postcodes and got the same results. He too has had Freeview for many years.

Not a good way to promote Freeview is it! Anyone know where I can find ACCURATE data?

Mikhail.... you could always check Freesat - that too is a subscription-free high-definition service and is already available to the whole of the country. The only drawback here is that it requires a satellite dish. Some houses already have them installed, and many new flats and apartments have comunal satellite dishes with cabling pre--wired in to the living rooms and bedrooms. We will be reviewing some Freesat HD boxes soon.
