There is still no definite news for the release of the first Freeview HD Box in the UK despite the scheduled turn on of the Manchester transmitter in December.
In the meantime, there seems to be much confusion over Freeview HD Upscaling boxes - these are standard definition Freeview boxes that promise to ‘upscale’ a SD picture and output in HD using an HDMI connection. While this may show an improved picture than you would normally get, it is by no means proper HD so if you are tempted to buy one, please make sure you know what you are buying.
