What do I need?
There are 2 pre-requisites to receiving Freeview HD – 1) you must have the right equipment, and 2) you must live in an area that can receive Freeview HD signals.
Freeview HD Equipment
To receive Freeview HD, you need an HD Ready TV and a Freeview HD set top box (Freeview HD Receiver) or Freeview + HD box (Freeview HD recorder). Some TVs now have a built-in Freeview HD tuner, in which case you wouldn’t need a separate set-top-box. However, not many TVs have built-in Freeview + HD recorder – so if you want to record Freeview HD programmes, chances are you’ll still need a separate Freeview HD Recorder. You will also need a compatible TV aerial. For more information on TV aerial installations visit Homecoms.
This site is dedicated to reviewing Freeview HD devices (both receivers, recorders and built-in TVs) so use the menus at the top of each page to find the model you like.
Do you live in a Freeview HD area?
The rollout of Freeview HD began in November 2009 in certain parts of Manchester and London. It is planned that the whole of the UK will be able to receive Freeview HD in time for the 2012 London Olympics. Around half of the UK will be able to receive Freeview HD by June 2010, in time for the football World Cup.
